Give your photographer faces, not just names

“Which one is Melinda?”

Your photographer has met you twice, possibly three times. They have never seen your maid of honor. They have definitely never seen your father's cousin.

So family formals become an exercise in shouting. Someone calls a name, the room half-turns, a person who isn't Melinda steps forward, and four minutes evaporate. Repeat eleven times and you've lost most of your golden hour to logistics.

A face solves it instantly

Add a photo to the people who appear most on your list — the wedding party, immediate family, anyone in a starred shot. Your photographer scrolls, looks at a face, and finds that person in the room. No shouting, no wrong Melinda.

You don't need studio portraits. A cropped phone photo works. Most people pull them from an engagement party, a group chat, or the wedding party's own social profiles in about ten minutes.

Who's actually worth adding

• The wedding party, all of them — these are the names called most often
• Parents and step-parents on both sides
• Grandparents, especially if there are several
• Anyone in a starred shot
• Anyone whose name your photographer will hear once and never again

The printed version

The headshot sheet prints as a clean page: face, name, role, and any note attached to them. Hand it to whoever is running family formals — usually a planner, a coordinator, or the one aunt who has decided this is her job. It's the single most useful piece of paper at a wedding and it works without a phone, a signal, or a battery.
